Herbal Smokes
a.k.a Girl Joints
A little smoke, a deep breath, a moment to reset.
I’m sharing my favourite blends, how they help my pain and anxiety, and how this small mindful act became one of my calmest self-care habits.
Let’s talk about my girl joints. 💅✨
They’re part of my self-care routine now — something that helps me feel regulated, reset, and ready for whatever’s next.
Smoking for me isn’t about escaping reality; it’s about grounding back into it. It helps me manage my pain and anxiety day to day, as a chronically ill (and let’s be honest, slightly crazy) girly just trying to get through life in one piece.
🌿 My Way to Smoke
I don’t actually roll my joints — my dexterity doesn’t always allow it. Instead, I use pre-rolled cones, which come with a little funnel and poking stick to pack them full of herbs and green. It’s oddly satisfying.
They even come in pretty colours, which makes me happy every single time. 💜
The process is still mindful — choosing which herbs to use, grinding them, blending the scents. I usually light a candle, put on some music, open the window, and just take that time for myself.
It’s calm, grounding, and a little messy, which honestly describes me pretty well.
🍃 What’s Inside

I use herbal blends, plural — because I like options depending on my mood and what my body needs.
My current favourite is the CHILL blend from Mystic Garden Blends on Etsy 🌸
It’s a gorgeous pre-ground mix of damiana, skullcap, rose petals, calendula, lemon balm, blue cornflower, and Siberian motherwort — all herbs known for their mood-balancing, hormone-supporting, and relaxing properties.
As someone with PCOS, that hormonal support is chef’s kiss. The blend is smooth, floral, and smells divine.
Most of the time I mix in a little weed — about 70% herbs to 30% cannabis, though that ratio shifts depending on how I feel or what I need that day. Both have their own kind of magic, and I find the balance keeps me functional without the fog.
🔮 My Smoke Time
Lighting up is my moment to pause — to check in with myself, set intentions, and let go of the noise.
It’s not a ritual, exactly — more like a mindful little time-out that lets me breathe properly for once.
I’m mad that I’m admitting it, but the breathing part helps more than I’d like to say. That slow inhale and exhale resets my nervous system in a way that nothing else quite does.
When I light one, it feels like a soft restart — a chance to refocus on myself and how I’m spending my energy and time.
And honestly, that’s what I love about it.
These smoke sessions aren’t about pretending everything’s okay; they’re about meeting yourself where you are, and making a little space for peace in the middle of the chaos.
☕ For Those Curious
You can use herbal blends in a lot of ways.
You don’t have to inhale them — they can be burned like incense, steeped into teas, added to simmer pots, or even sprinkled into baths for a similar calming energy.
If you do choose to smoke them, research each herb carefully, make sure it’s safe for you personally, and always listen to your body.
There are plenty of lovely pre-made blends out there (like the ones from Mystic Garden Blends), but half the fun is experimenting safely with what feels right for you.
🌸 A Few of My Favourite Herbs
Here are some of my top recommendations for herbal smokes, all of which have their own gentle magic:
- Blue Cornflower – Cooling, soothing, and beautiful; great for easing tension.
- Mugwort – Dreamy, intuitive, and relaxing; known to help with vivid dreams.
- Motherwort – Grounding and calming; can support anxiety and emotional balance.
- Raspberry Leaf – Smooth burning and hormone balancing; my PCOS bestie.
- Calendula – Warming and uplifting; encourages healing energy.
- Rose – Softens everything — scent, mood, emotions. Helps you open your heart a bit.
- Lavender – Classic calm. Relieves stress, smells divine, and helps with sleep.
- Marshmallow Leaf – Not sweet like it sounds! It’s used to bulk the mix, helping everything burn evenly and gently.
Each herb adds something unique — to the smoke, the scent, and the state of mind that comes with taking a moment for yourself.
🌙 A Note on Legality & Safety
Before anyone asks — yes, my cannabis use is prescribed and legal in the UK. 🌿
I mix it with herbs that I’ve researched for both safety and intention, choosing them for how they support my body and my mental health.
This post isn’t to promote or encourage anyone to smoke. It’s just my way of sharing something that helps me feel grounded, less anxious, and a little more in control of a body that often doesn’t play fair.
